Punk never died, it evolved in to post-hardcore and then eventually in to metalcore. to stand out of the crowd when you are new you half to be different and thats why genres do stay the same. if you listen to metalcore there is still an essence of punk but just harder and faster

@KingxJamie Punk music died because the mainstream and popular culture exploited the Punk Look, Anger, and Attitude. They watered it down, bastardized it, and later, moved against it (demonized it) when they found that it was not to their interests of success. Punk, real punk, is not dead, we're just all old now, we sleep alot more!
