This was a test done to verify claims that solar intensifiers can multiply the output from solar cells. Some claim as much as 4 times the output from the cell alone. I used a 4ft square fresnel lense to concentrate the light on the solar cell. My output watts doubled with the voltage remaining almost the same. Voltage did drop slightly with the intensifier. I believe that is due to the extra heat on the cell.

  • The 's' is silent (/freɪˈnɛl/ fray-nel)

  • Try makeing composite layer photo-thermo-electric cell with a heatsink on the back side. Have the thermoelectri layer in series with the photolayer and the voltages will add together so the voltages add. The heat to electricity will be a nice gain as well as keeping the cell cooler.

  • Careful how you store your fresnel lens. I almost caught a 4x4 support on fire in my carport.

  • I could see the meter fine.
