johns ego is justified though, he was the creative genius behind CCR, he knew what it took to make a timeless piece of music, and it had to be done with precision, and you dont want any one messing with that, and Tom was a singer, but marginal at best, case and point....he never created anything substantial other than 2 or 3 songs that were almost hits, but he was no john fogerty...so i say that respecfully

respectfully though, john gave direction on how the music would sound, it was in his head, and he was the creator of the music, and the rhythm is only the back drop of all the ideas that emanated from his soul, so he directed the drummer, bass player too, so these guys were riding on the crest of the wave he created...just my humble response.
