Here's a nice example of one of the more straight rock 'n roll songs Kansas used to play live early on in their career. It's also one of the few songs where Robby Steinhardt does all of the singing. The energy coming from the stage back then was just amazing!
I'd like to tell you where the audio and video is from, but I fear one of "them" might want to take it down (as they've already done with some of my other Kansas uploads). All I can say is the music was never officialy released (I just wish the band would open up the vault one day) and recorded during the Masque tour at their "home away from home", that is Pennsylvania, one of the few places outside the Midwest that had a strong following right from their incarnation back in 1974.
The band:
-Robby Steinhardt - vocals, violin
-Kerry Livgren - guitar
-Steve Walsh - keys
-Rich Williams - guitar
-Dave Hope - bass
Phil Ehart - drums
(all 6 original members)
You will never find a better, tighter rock -n- roll performance than Kansas back in the day. There just isn't music made like this anymore. And I will never get over skipping out on going to see them in concert in the late 70's, not once but twice! All of my friends droned on for weeks about how great they were.
