Open sight target shooting with the Ruger 10/22 at 200 yards, .22 Long Rifle. Ammo is CCI Stinger 32 grain hollow points. The target is a standard-sized IPSC outline, steel, approximately 18" x 30". I took 25 slow-paced shots.

This bullet should drop approximately 40 inches at 200 yards and reach the target in about half a second. There is an elevation drop from the shooting position to the target, which enabled holding 12-18" over the top. Wind was steady at 5-10 mph, gusting to 15; left to right.

Video includes a second camera for the target cam. Toward the end of the shooting session, the underlying PIP audio/video track gets out of sync with the HD camera at the shooting position. Even though both cameras are supposedly recording at the same speed, the standard definition "target cam" seems to be a tad bit slower, and that becomes more obvious given the extended nature of this PIP footage compared to others I've posted. Couple of hundreds of a second makes a difference with overlaying tracks. The optimum solution to this is using a second HD camera at the target, same model, which is a short-term objective.

  • i wish someone would do ballistic test from 100-200yards

  • @ddavid993

I plan on doing that once I get the 10/22 target model and add a scope.

  • 200 feet not yards

  • @superhawkn

200 YARDS......laser measured. The depth perception and audio feedback from the hits alone should be a giveaway.

  • Ever considered Tech Sights?

  • @slowride55

I just purchased some Williams Firesights for this rifle and will post a video on those.

I guess millions of people have wasted their money on a 10/22. Quick, someone call Ruger and ask them to stop making an inferior rifle. Give us some video of shooting that HiPoint at 200 yards with open sights and we'll compare target groups. Since this is actually a video forum (with frequent trolls) I'll even accept your effort as a video response.

  • I have the exact same piece with the exact same magazine.

Wouldn't trade either one for a room full of virgins.

  • @sopark434 with an accurate rifle like the ruger 10/22 and good quality ammo like he has here, your getting good energy so 200 yard hit's with iron sights isn't sucha hard task, i think people need to believe in their marksmanship skills alot more than most do

in the Marines we hit 500 yard targets with iron sights with the m-16 on clear days' windy days... rainy days.. etc.. i qualified expert in a tropical storm in Okinanwa at camp schwab, any Marine whos ever shot there knows whats up

  • I've been shooting 240 yards with my 10/22 with a scope and back-up sights for a while, I can get 25/25 with or without wind, using cheap wal-mart rounds too.

Still, 200 is good for tracers.

  • Very cool I need a camera for long range shooting.

That is good shooting from you and the rifle!

Wish I could find the 60gr video..

  • I was hitting a 6" steel at 100 yards with my Browning Buckmark Rifle yesterday in a stiff breeze. Wish I had a 200 yard open shot but here on the mountain that's not happening. Good shooting. Tomorrow I am going to work out with the S&W 22A on the same steel and see how I do.

  • Pfffft... you missed one :)

  • @ddavid993 there is a 300 yard test online somewhere, at 300 yards a .22lr went through a whole frozen ham.

  • @tnoutdoors9 How much bullet drop do you get at 200 yards? Nice shooting.

  • Got to love the ruger

  • @Mr13born79 i think so, i have 2 ruger 10/22's both with the extended mag releases and the triggers are pretty good. they were both made within the last 5 years so they're fairly new
