why dont you have a helmet on that kid's head? did you know 1 in every 2 kids who die whilst horse riding were not wearing helmets at the time?

@horse99lover I see it as a choice. The first choice might be to to NOT ride horses. But, you could get hit by a car that runs amuck right up onto your lawn. Helmets probably do protect from some head injuries, but I think it is more likely that they contribute to neck injuries. Having suffered ALL my life from a whiplash, I really don't relish the promotion of neck injuries.

Tranquil Valley Sanctuary is an establishment that runs entirely on contributions. While helmets are recommended and even essential for serious riding and competition, the kind of helmet nessary for any protection would have to be custom fit to the rider at a cost of over $300. Such a helmet, once it has protected the head from injury would have to be thrown out & a new one purchased. This arena is pure dirt, no concrete underneath. Contributions of helmets, hay, tack, etc. are most welcome.
