this is rigid tapping a 1 inch hole with an indicator showing a pretty consistent deflection attributed to the dull tap.

  • @josxr Could be.. I know the time this video was made the axis scale was not perfect. The 3TPI ball screw was not exactly 3TPI. I have sense then rigid tapped some 10-32 holes with not issues. So - it syncs pretty good.

  • I think your analysis is incorrect. The flex of the material in the z plane looks like fluctuation in the syncronization between the spindle and the z axis.

    BTW your retrofit is fairly brilliant.

    If (when?) the control dies on my VMC I will attempt to retrofit it with EMC. Your results prove that it is possible.
