What are the devices on the stage in the right-foreground which say Teisco at 0:40-0:50?

Are they perhaps primitive stage monitors? They look like speakers directed at the Beatles. I know the Beatles were able to hear themselves more on this tour. Perhaps this was one more part of it?

"Robin....Robin.......Robin...­...!! No, wait, that's 10 years later when Cheap Trick invades the Budokan. : ) Amazing how the crowd noise sounds the same. Also, I love it how John's guitar playing carries this song. George just kinda stays out of his way. John and George made the Beatles. In Paul and Ringo's later years, it's obvious.
