Naples Boat Parade: A Flotilla of Fun!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Drjl0g8f_Eg

The boat parade was late! But we had a great time waiting for it.

Party! Party! Party!

Parties all over the Island, choirs, dogs, tons of kids and the infamous "Tallest Door In Long Beach". Several people were serving cookies, lemonade and soup (Christmas clam chowder), for a small donation. Pretty handy, if you weren't invited to a local party. All the dogs were super friendly, and clearly looking for a holiday handout.

Song of Christmas, and More Parties!

I spotted the moon on top of mast strung with colored lights. The Renaissance High School of the Arts provided wonderful choral arrangements that lit up the evening.
Lots of kids were lit up with flashy things on their heads; some adults were "lit up", too!
One house had cocktail tables and chairs set up, and so that people wouldn't think it was a restaurant I guess, they had a sign that said "Private Party"

Reflections on a Night on the Canal

The reflection of the lights in the water was marvelous, the magic of Naples Island was on full display. And, of course, the famous "Captain Morgan" statue had a Santa hat
One house had decorated their white roses with bright white Christmas lights...in December!

The views were great from either the bridges or the sides, although it was a bit tougher to get a good spot from the bridges. We saw barges, duffies, yachts, fishing boats, row boats, canoes, paddle boards, surf boards...the only thing I didn't see was a Zodiac...now that would have been cool!

Hanukah Blues

It was a Christmas parade, but there were many signs of Hanukah, too: floating and stationary menorahs, tons blue lights. Everyone was in the same holiday/party mood.

We weren't disappointed that the illuminated "Ho Ho Ho" was back this year on the Portofino. The crowds keep coming back for more of the magic of Naples Island. See you next year!

Merry Christmas!
