Yeah, kind of nasty really. He's making a point that another teacher might well make (that she's relentlessly wanting things a certain way) but he seems himself to be caught up by her being dense and not getting the message, and is also invested in his self-image as an entertainer (note the way he looks around for the applause for his cute mindfucking points). One of those "guest" and "host" things - in this case, the guest has actually tripped up the host.
