After standing in as a symbol of democracy in Singapore for 27 years, the fall of Potong Pasir SMC finally took place. Candidates from the Singapore People's Party drove into Toa Payoh Lorong 8 to express their gratitude towards the residents.

It was emotional.
It was heart-wrenching.

This sense of attachment to MP Chiam See Tong is unexplainable and is something that could only be understood by residents from Potong Pasir SMC.

Much sweat and tears were shed as residents surged towards the rally vehicles that were bidding farewell.

Residents were really emotional as they are forced to accept this breakup of a 27 years long relationship.

  • A living example of a democratic hero.

"I am actually not a brave man. But I love Singapore, I love Singaporeans" - Chiam See Tong

People who voted him out should be ashamed of themselves, they do not know what he has sacrificed for us.

  • someone so humble, passionate and genuine doesn't have the best health, yet someone greedy, manipulative and selfish still seems to be breathing. something's not right.

  • WHY PP RESIDENTS?! You did not kept your promise like what Hougang did...

  • The quality of this video is amazing. I can imagine this being shown in a movie theatre... the sound track makes it even more powerful... Jamesjunior, you have the potential to be a great director...:)

    Very touching clip. 老詹也该退休了。谢谢他老人家为民主尽自己的力量。

  • Mr Chiam, you have my full respect. Not only did you show the others what it means to work for the people, you have also showed everyone much humility.

You have no other agenda other then to serve the people. You took on the big guns. Along with JB Jeya, David Marshall, you are a pioneer in bringing opposition to the political scene. You paved the way for others to follow.

Respect. Salute to you. Forever in my heart. You deserve more respect than any of the ruling party MPs. luv ya

  • @jamesjunior1984 thank you

  • No one can ever replace Mr Chiam as my MP. He is our MP forever.

  • This must be very uncomfortable for Mr Chiam to ride on the back of the lorry, clinging on to balance himself but he did it nevertheless, just as he put up with his pathetic void deck "office" for the past 27 years. I hope Sitoh takes over the "office" just to experience for himself the amount of sacrifice Mr Chiam made for the PP people for 27 LONG YEARS!!
