Lord Of The Rings - Opening scene

You aren't the only one who has noticed it looks like a wedding ring. As far as it changing size it is part of its magic, it mentions it in the books.

Oh... and the ring was huge... but in the hand of the hobits it's smaller

i believe since she is an immortal she is probaly telling the story far after the evnets of the films and the tale of the one ring and the fellowship has probably became nothing more than a myth, those who truely remember and saw the evnts now live in the undying lands, far from any contact with middle earth
