242 State Record Total 1714.1! CONTINUED...

Props to Jeff Lisac, whose record I broke. Yours stood for 14 years. I hope mine can do the same.

A sincere thank you go Matt Gary of Supreme Sports Performance & Training. His online based coaching has been extremely valuable.

Thanks also to Priscilla Ribic. World champion, IPF Hall of Fame, nice lady. All suits, wraps and shirts (including the t-shirt) were from her business.

Thanks to many of the other people who helped along the way. Dr. Larry Maile, President of USA Powerlifting, and powerlifting genius. Harriet Hall. Multi-time champion, and the friendly face that got me started in this. Dusty Farrow, who kicks my butt, yet I still love him! Also thanks to Jason Hlebechuk and Scott Medeiros for the video of my second squat and the still photos, respectively.

Those that follow my training can likely see that I learned my lesson from Nationals. Train your squats deep. If you think you will get the bottom two inches on meet day and still hit your training numbers, you are probably wrong. Open wisely and if you plan on using an insane shirt, get an opener shirt. It only took me five years to internalize these lessons.

And many, many thanks to my wonderful wife and beautiful children. Thank you for letting daddy do this craziness!

  • you destroyed that 3rd bench

  • @tigerak02 Thanks. Next goal, 242 record bench press. Current record is 500. 227.5 takes it...

  • Congrats again Rob!

  • @SupremeSportsPT Thanks for the guidance, Matt!

  • Nah my bad they're white lol thought they misloaded it

  • @TRella2000 Funny - at the last meet I questioned it because yellow plates were being used. The platform manager, some dude named Larry, said "It's not my first rodeo." Turns out the plates, which were regular iron gray, were 10 kilo plates that were mis-painted and Larry just adjusted on the fly!

  • @rhsalaska I've been told a couple of different times that around year 5 of competing there is usually a breakthrough of sorts. If so, your's is right on time!

  • @DaveFrankovic Thanks, Dave! I am pretty proud of this performance.

  • @mrodock Thanks! I feel like maybe I am getting to be a "seasoned" competitor. I've been at this for almost five years and this was my fourth competition this year (state champs, nationals, deadlift invitational and winter classic).

  • Congrats on a very solid meet!! You looked really solid.

  • Awesome work Rob!
