Sin duda Juan Diego Flórez es el mejor interprete de La Fille du Regiment en la actualidad. No solo por su gran dote vocal sino porque ha logrado transmitir la gracia y el encanto propio del rol donizetiano correctamente. Ojalá los latinoamericanos podamos apreciarlo en esta bravura de opera y asi sentirnos orgullosos de que somos gente que tenemos lo mejor del bel canto para el mundo.

I was lucky to see him live at the Met "La fille last performance. JDF sings with such an ease is amazing.  HIs perfectly placed notes come out like fireworks that fill the theatre soaring and breaking into sublime sounds! From the 1st note to the last, amazing beautiful sound! Great acting too!

You must see him LIVE to appreciate his vocal

I just got home from seeing this live at the Met in NYC. It was AMAZING!!! I kept reminding myself that it was LIVE LIVE LIVE!!!! It's the same production, same costumes and set, etc. Bravo!

the only reason he has the high c is because his voice is so light, he doesn't need to work as hard as heavier voices tenors to get up there. and the only reason he got that 2.5 minute applaud was (1) because he actually did it (i guess, if you wanna call that actually doing it) and (2) because people love that aria and it gets them warm little fuzzy pavarotti memories in their minds, when really this barely compares. i mean either way, i've never liked any recording of this aria, but jdf is eh.

Ya know, when I first heard this guy, I wrote him off. But I'm glad I gave him a second try, because I've come to think that he's actually very good, and he's staying within the repetoire that's appropriate for his voice. I still firmly believe that Pavarotti was the best in this role, but Florez and Kraus are both close seconds.
