There was a slight confusion here after fence 8 which caused them to be eliminated - TOTALLY NOT THEIR FAULT!! As Soph came over 8, she saw that 9 hadn't been put back up after the previous competitor had knocked it. She raised her hand and pointed it out, but the arena helper said to jump it anyway - the pole was a good 2 feet away on the landing side. After circling a couple of times they carried on, correctly missing out the fence that had been knocked, as Smits could have landed on it and gone down.

It was such a shame, because he was jumping so well up til then, and they just lost their momentum a bit. It was a big first BN for them both, so very pleased with them, but mostly proud of Soph for being sensible and not jumping the knocked fence, which I'm sure a lot of people would have done anyway to avoid being eliminated.

I missed out the last 2 fences as I was fuming from what had happened! Needless to say the arena helper avoided me for the rest of the day!

  • Bunch of BSJA tossers. Smartie still jumped like a legend though! I would have told them to sod right off, I wouldn't jump my horse over a jump if I knew they could potentially break their leg on the other side... madness!

  • @BlackberryMay I know, it's flippin' ridiculous! Wasn't at all happy but wasn't going to dispute it as they were on a day ticket. Only reason I even just BSJA is because a) the prize money is good and b) I've out jumped Trailblazers...! Wish more unaffiliated events did bigger courses sometimes - although they're still run to BSJA rule book, unfortunately! I may message my area rep and query it!

  • that is very poor of them, I would of made an official complaint, very well done to her though and she did the right thing not to jump it :) xx

  • @JTerryShowjumper Apparently it is in the rule book that under those circumstances you are meant to jump the fence anyway. Personally I think that is completely out of order, as there's no telling where the missing pole is, or how a horse could land near/on it. Bad form, BSJA.

  • Is this horse bn?x

  • What a good round well done :) xxxx

  • @Tootsponiigirlxx i am very proud of him, hes so good :)

  • wow that was a great round! You should write straight to the BSJA as in my rules that i have it says if the fence is of any danger to the horse the bell will sound, fence put up and rider able to carry on, encuring no penalties. Well done though!

  • @torabella thats rediculous as the horse could land on the pole and there could be a dangerous situation x

  • yeah was annoying but who cares smits was awesome and he was the smallest in the class and had gone clear up untill the fence incident, he saved my ass a lot and it was my fault when he knocked 2 down near the end he was such a good boy, very proud of him!! thanks for putting it on tor you can take it off if you want i've downloaded it xx
