This is an excerpt from the AM1130 New Talk Radio Roundtable aired on December 17, 2011. Former gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer describes how Hamline University rescinded his job offer after several professors reportedly complained about Emmer's position on marriage being the union of one man and one woman. Just imagine the outrage that would have occurred if the situation had been reversed and Emmer was declined a job because he believed in 'same-sex marriage.' The intolerance and hypocrisy of institutions of higher learning is truly breathtaking. Emmer's experience offers insight into the type of employment discrimination and bigotry we can expect to experience if 'same-sex marriage' is ever legalized in the state of Minnesota.

  • @1RedshirtXLG if you're going to talk shit, shit refute my statement

  • @Nokomisclub

That is the way society works, it changes and progresses whether you want it to or not. Society does not, nor has it ever, stood still. 100 years ago marriage was between two people of the same race. Period. And society defined it that way. Obviously society no longer holds anti-miscegenation as an acceptable "value." 100 years from now the same will be said of marital discrimination towards homosexuals. Fight it all you want, but it won't change the inevitable.

  • @AABonine9200 I understand that liberals are very comfortable framing issues and trying to create a "progressive" society. That is what you seem to be trying to do. Marriage is between one man and one woman. Period. We as a society have every right to say that is the definition. I will oppose gay marriage every way I can.

  • @Nokomisclub

Whether it's genetic or not makes little difference. The point is, attraction to another person is a biological process, one that cannot be turned on or off at will. "Cultural definitions" are changing all the time. Marriage used to be a business transaction between a man and his future father-in-law; up until 1967 it was permissible for states to ban interracial marriages. The "institution" of marriage does not exist in a vacuum, but changes and grows with society.

  • I just noticed that one of my prior posts had something about changing orientation that I pasted from another source. That is not my point at all

  • @AABonine9200 Where did I say anything about "changing orientation". Frankly I don't care about orientation. I just refuse to allow a politically biased group to say I am a "bigot" if I don't allow them to turn our cultural definitions upside down. I will, or course, continue to refuse to consider homosexuals a special genetically defined group until there is legit, unbiased proof. The burden of proof is with those who are trying to say homosexuality is genetic.

  • @Nokomisclub

I'm sorry, but this is complete and utter bullsh*t. If evidence exists that homosexuals can change their orientation, then evidence also exists that heterosexuals can change their orientation. In case you hadn't noticed, homosexuals are humans, just like heterosexuals. Gay people aren't some wonky sub species who operate by different biological rules.

  • @tobfuroshos

Someone hasn't had their juice yet.

  • Translation: Boo hoo they wouldn’t tolerate my bigotry and now I’m going to whine about it to anyone with ears.
