Assassinja Round 1

OK, this was the Artificial Intelligence Predator vs. Prey competition at SIUE in Spring 2008. My team was Data Assassins and our robot was Assassinja. For the competition I attached my camera phone to Assassinja to record a kind of what it sees during a round.

The teams were split up into either predator or prey, and we were one of the prey. We had to go against six predators. Four of them we beat by reaching the safe zone on the other end of the arena. The other two we just wandered around and didn't get caught by the predator.

If we made it to the safe zone we had to have the robot play a song, and we chose the intro to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" to shame the predator :p. The other robot in the arena is the predator and it's objective is to run into us and play a song, so sometimes there are collisions between the two bots but since the predator never "sang" we were never caught.

The only place I could put the phone was right behind the sonar sensor, so it's cable is right in the shot as well as the end of my Mini-Maglite, but otherwise you can see pretty well.

With our four wins we were able to win first in the prey division, because
