A beautiful aspiring actress and her renegade boyfriend approached me to write and direct a short film for them-- to both star in, and be used as a calling card, a portfolio piece for a career in Hollywood. After spending time with them, I wrote something strange that reflected what I knew about their personal choices and lifestyle. The result is a story of infidelity, murder, and espionage set in the winter at my favorite mysterious off-season getaway: Montauk, Long Island. My concept for casting ex-rock star, Deborah Harry as the lawyer-in-charge was simple: 'no one would ever think of her in such a role-- so, go for it.'
— Bob Giraldi, Director
Editing Honey Trap was a fun and challenging experience. Bob wanted to depart from the original story structure and make something more dynamic and non linear. So, essentially I tore up the film into pieces and shuffled them around until it worked better. Jumping back and forth between the past and present in the interrogation room as well trimming the fat made for a leaner faster paced and more interesting film.
