Million Dollar Bill!!! Record setting 11 wins(85')in addition to winning the Winston Million(Daytona,Darlington,Tal
ledega) He's the reason for restrictor plates! A Talledega 202.398mph pole and the 1987 record setting lap of 212.809mph and up during the race. The1988 Champ!! Although he really should have been in 85',87',and 92'.From 84 - 02' voted most popular driver 16 times.ESPN driver of decade (80's). Hall of Fame 2007! One of the BEST! AWESOME BILL from DAWSONVILLE!!! -
Todays nascar is nothing compared to what is used to be. It was much better years ago. Nascar ran off seriously loyal fans with arrogance and greed. The multi-team teams and COT take the true sport out of it. Start a team now like the Elliotts did 30 years ago,and you wouldn't stand a chance in todays greed filled garage. Racin' is supposed to be about "my car" is faster than "your car". Not, My Team has more resources and is the favored Make of the Frances" ie...Chevrolet.

they completely changed the rules as far as what you could do with the car because of the the elliott bros. i saw him go from 2 laps down at talledega to win the race, he was faster out of the draft than everyone else was in it. his thunderbird was just so dominant, it was unfair

I agree with the comments about it not being what it used to be. they have watered it down so much. i quit watching after bill elliot retired

I sometimes prefer to watch the old races where I know what's gonna happen because it was so gritty and epic than the boring stuff of today.

@PastorBurton I hear ya, but at least Gordon stuck out and was doing great... Now everyone is short and scrawny! Hey, both Labonte's are short, but yeah Waltrip, Earnhardt and those guys were big dudes, NASCAR has lost a lot of it's character.

Jeff Gordon is the last Classic driver, today's drivers just aren't what they used to be. Forget Jimmie Johnson, he only wins 10 race championships and that's about it.
-
Gorden, Busch, and etc. Nowhere near the caliber of driver of Elliott, Yarburough, Earhardt, Allison, Johnson, and so on.(oh and Richard Petty, my favorite)
Back when Men Where Men, and Race Car Drivers WHERE MEN!!!!
If you don't get it, maybe you're too young.

@hightech62 I agree for the most part. So 4 thumbs up!
-
NASCAR today is nothing more than a bunch of pretty boy spokes models!!! Might as well let the Victoria Secret Models race!
Ain't like the Godd ol' days that made the sport!!!!!

@hightech62 amen...

just think 3 out of 4 thats great and you didnt have too just finsh in the top 5 keep lowing the bar thats what youll get just a bunch of low barsand many low brows trying to reach it
Sadly, he left nascar quietly, he should have been givin' a great send off, but I guess Mike Helton would piss off gm.

He's actually going to run some next year for the 21 i believe. But you are exactly right, As far as Nascar is concerned there are no iconic drivers left who weren't bowties. :P
