  • To elaborate: The Takeda charged headlong into a series of wooden barricades where gunners stood waiting. When the chargers lost their momentum, the cavalry's greatest strength was lost. In the initial attack, the Takeda suffered an estimated 1,100 men. In the ensuing rout, a further thousand were killed or captured, including 8 of the 24 Generals.

This battle showed that firearms, not cavalry, were now the deadliest weapon on the battlefield.

  • Katsuyori Takeda, after the death of his father Shingen, took over the clan. He was engaged in a series of battles with the Tokugawa-Oda alliance. At this decisive battle, Nobunaga used an ingenious tactic to defeat the feared Takeda cavalry. Infantry lined up behind barricades using rifles. To compensate for the slow reload time, he organized three cocentric lines of riflemen. Each time one line fired, the next would replace it.

The Takeda took huge losses and never recovered.

  • i love how horse man suicid on that spear wall
