At the time of this posting, NBC news has been disclosing the remarkable details of a meeting between eleven GOP congressmen, who told the president he must be more honest and forthcoming on the Iraq war. One told him, "My district is prepared for defeat" in the war, and he was also told that neither he or Cheney should speak publicly about the war's progress, citing no credibility from this White House. Powerful stuff, which the Washington Post's Dana Milbank called "a turning point." Time will tell, but it's obvious that bipartisan support for the war is now waning.

  • Olbermann...what a complete jackass...

  • Those are by far Keith Olbermann's best pair of eyeglasses.

  • Bush doesn't really care if he has no credibility. Why should he? He's already won his second term and he can't run again. All he has to do is stick the war out until 2009 and then he can dump it on the next president. Then, why sould he care? It's not like it's his problem anymore.

  • It's rather a shame that Cheney gets healthcare...

    Many Americans don't...

that includes many who have not done Cheney's crimes, nor harmed their Nation as Cheney has...

    There's something wrong here.

  • truthlovver: [continued from above:]

    Please

Please: THIS time: bring the criminal to trial: High crimes and misdemeanors: provision is in the Constitution.

    Can we NEVER learn?

  • truthlovver: yes. yes to all of that.

More interestingly: ***these were impeachable offenses.***

If we make the same mistake again

that was made when Ford pardoned the arch-criminal, Nixon,

... then there may NEVER be any accountability among the Nation's Criminals-in-Chief: that Nixon lesson wasn't lost on Bush: he had SEEN an historic lesson: he'd NEVER be brought to account.

So he devastated our Constitution, pillaged our treasury to enrich his Pals.

  • if the iraqis go on vacation, bush is fucked. if the war continues, even with them NOT on vacation, it is still a disaster for bush. bush is fucked. that motherfucker should "stand down" NOW! THANK YOU!!!

  • Why has it taken four years for members of the GOP to say this? Oh, wait, there's an election coming up. Of course, sorry, as you were.

  • Let's review. Suddenly, when their political careers are in jeopardy, pubs no longer care about the "security" of America & "protecting us from terrorists"? How do they have the nerve to tell us we might have to be in Iraq for years, even DECADES (Newt Gingrich said 70 years), and that if we didn't fight them there, they would "follow us here"...and then turn around and say oh, wow, this is hurting the GOP's chances of getting elected, so we are no longer for it...

    Disgusting!!!
