Any tips 4 leaky pan/rubber gasket on 85 c1500 5.7H. New 13 bolts, red rtv? Need seal 2 but this seems doable. newbie 2 my old truck and this area.

Hey please respond to my comment, I have a 1984 lincoln towncar and it has a leaky transmission,would this be the same as a rear main seal? And the same process to replace it basically?

@The18Jake The rear main is in the back of the engine. It usually requires transmission removal. That would be an engine oil leak, not ATF.

@roadragecustoms Well I was hoping I was right...lol. Does the tranny need to be completely disengaged from the engine? Or just scooted back with the drive-shaft removed? Do you think that could work? Any tips or tricks on replacing one?

you make it look so easy. iv been trying to do the seals on my 89 cavalier for almost a month now. i just cant get them in straight. how would i do it?

@rsteveball I have an output shaft seal installer kit from Snap-On that helps on most front wheel drive vehicles.
