  • My mother's parents were born in Lithuania. My mom was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up speaking English and Lithuanian. She used to sing a version of this lullaby to me when I was very little. I love her and miss her. (Sept. 1, 1914-June 14, 2006) ♫♥♫♥♫

  • Translation:

Sleep, my little daughter, my beloved one. How many times during the day I've already lifted you into the air? I've already lifted you, I've already carried you around while preparing your little bed for dreams. Sleep, my little daughter, my beloved one. Grow fast, become agile, my little daughter. Dream my little daughter, my beloved one.

Čiūčia liūlia = to fall asleep (i.e. used as a soft imperative in Lithuanian lullabies).

  • @Catachrest I used Google Translate, with very little results: "lullaby dukrytėla my sweetheart, how many times a dienelį Tavis pakilojau pakilojau panešiojau patalėlį lay lullaby dukrytėla my beloved high didutė greitutė Be my lullaby dukrytėla dukrytėla my love"

  • @TopazDupree You should learn our beautiful language too, you have lithuanian blood in you! <3

  • @Terlagu That's awesome! Thank you so much :)

  • @TigerLilacs17 all posible words are diminutives. | čiūčia liūlia my beloved daughter | how many times a day I picked you | ("picked you" - lift, lying close to the chest, bed down.) | picked you, carry along | (both plural) | lay bed | ("bed" - it means place where that kid sleeps) | čiūčia liūlia my beloved daughter | grow up in a large, be fast | my daughter | čiūčia liūlia my beloved daughter | my english very limited, so can't do better translation.
  • @TigerLilacs17 it is a lullaby, mother singing to her daughter... anyhow, i'm trying translate it like an hour to keep all the gentle feelings of mother and i cant, its really hard to translate properly
