Yuriy Gusev, director of Madison's Russian Style Ski School and the driving force behind this weekend's Capitol Square Sprints, talks about organizers' snowmaking efforts as the snowguns are turned off and packed away at the Alliant Energy Center. In broad daylight, the mounds of snow resulting from the snowmaking effort top out an an impressive 14 or 15 feet, by Gusev's estimation -- enough, by his reckoning, to groom a one-kilometer cross-country ski loop for the third annual event, on the streets flanking Madison's Capitol Square.
