People of Earth! Don't Panic - Interview with Eoin Colfer,

If this makes sense then you must be aware of the science fiction comedy phenomenon Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If not then where have you been for the past 30 years?

To mark the three decades since Douglas Adams' idea first came to life as a BBC Radio 4 series, a new book is being released that continues the adventures of Arthur Dent.

The book - 'And Another Thing...' - was written by the best-selling author Eoin Colfer, and will be the first instalment in over seventeen years. It has received support from Jane Belson, the widow of the series' creator Douglas Adams, and is available to buy from Monday 12th October. Colfer is best known for his Artemis Fowl series, which has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

It's come a long way from the drunken musings of Adams, who claimed he was lying in a field in Austria in the early 1970s gazing up at the stars when he thought it would be a good idea for someone to write a hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. The original radio series developed into a multi media phenomenon, which spawned books, records, a TV series, comic books, computer games, a stage show and in 2005 a Hollywood movie.

Colfer will be touring around the UK to sign copies of his book beginning Sunday 11th October, where hundreds of eager readers will turn up in their dressing gowns - like the series' protagonist Arthur Dent - to hear a live reading of the eagerly-awaited book from the new author himself at the Southbank Centre in London... So don your dressing gown and make your way down there!
