The clip is shot when driving home from winter vacation in Sirdal, Norway. The weather got worse and worse and as can be seen it is very difficult to see the road. Even the snow-plough almost disappeared....
In the end we chose to turn around...for safety's sake...

  • Is winter always that bad?

  • No, winter is normally not that 'bad'. If one needs to travel in such weather-conditions, one should avoid crossing mountain terrain. In our case, we turned around and had a pleasant and safe trip across low-land terrain in stead (no wind). But it was a longer drive...

  • That's extreme! How did you get home? I remember the road through Hunnedalen from our vacation last summer and I can easily imagine that it's no fun to drive along there under weather conditions like these :-o

  • We turned around at the place where the video ends. The first part of the trip back to Sirdal was even more 'extreme' than what is in the video. Plenty of cars queing the other way - and of course some of them in the middle of the road. There was no snowplough going the other way, so driving conditions were a bit worse. Once back in Sirdal, we chose to drive down past Tonstad to E39 and then back to Stavanger. We experienced pretty good driving conditions all the way.

  • it´s really not very bad compared to other parts of Norway. I live in northern-Norway and I have crossed Saltfjellet, Korgfjellet (before the tunnel came) and Sjonfjellet 100 times in worse wether than this. As long as the mountain isn´t closed and you can estimate where the car in front of you is, it´s no problem. But when you can´t see youre nose of the car you have a problem. As long as you can see from one "snow-plow-pole" to the next. Do they have those in other countries?

  • wow! this makes snow england look like nothing, okay i guess we had at-least 10 inches but you guys must get meters of snow (how lucky) i feel jealous im not living there.

  • This looks just great! i love the snow and the cold (as long as the car is warm and safe ofc) its (idyllic?) its not to dangerous as long as you got good winter wheels and abs/anti skid. dont need (piggs) unless its icy roads. nad ofc keep your speed at a safe km/h mp/h!

and yeah im norwegain spelling might be a bit bad on a notebook. ><
