Newbie trying to show off. Must be student who just found a new toy. Give him a couple of year he might do more and talk less. He probably don't understand what the word artist means.

obviously..... the guy is using a mac

@bubblesofhell If you want to. Industry professionals use both, but the majority prefer Photoshop because of it's versatility.

Fuck Photoshop and Painter. They aren't REAL art applications. REAL artists use sketchbook on their Human CentiPads. ALWAYS.
-
Both programs have cross-over features but each one shines in their own specialty. Photoshop has artist tools but they aren't as sophisticated and advance as Corel Painter X. While Painter has nice photo editing tools they aren't as sophisticated and comprehensive as Photoshop. The question is not which one is better but which one is more appropriate for me. You can't go wrong with either programs. You just need to know what you need.

"Adobe is almost a monopoly. I really dont like them"
Said the mac user... BHAHAAHAHAAA

@shagythommy You can buy Painter from the Corel website. Or you can pretty much get it from anywhere online. Amazon, eBay, etc. You can also check your local electronics stores to see if they have it. I'm pretty sure that art stores and some university student stores sell it, too. Paint also usually comes bundled with certain drawing tablets.

thats nice how much does it cost?
It's pronounced kor-el.
Painter X is great for drawing with a tablet, I'd own a copy myself if I had a need for it frequently.
Also, oh god, the massive dock.
My bars on Linux and Windows are on auto-hide, obsessive-compulsive for workspace.

2. when i launch it and i go to defrag my volume. I select it but then it says i need to launch it from a different volume. If i insert the CD it tells me the same thing.

i wouldnt defrag a lot. It can cause problems if you have a hiccup while doing it. You have ot boot from another volume to defrag your main HD. Boot from the Drive genius dvd. there is an app call iDefrag that can do it without booting form the dvd
