Looking for a scooter for under $1000? Insted of buying a new sub $1000 Chinese scooter that will break before it has a few thousand miles on it, consider a used Honda Elite 80. They were produced in huge numbers from 1983-2006. I have seen them for sale for $300-1300 depending on age, condition, and mileage. Parts are still available from Honda. You can find them on Craigslist, Ebay, or in the local trader.

  • @brian93ist Hi Brian. The current model Honda Elite 110cc scooter represents a complete re-design of the Elite line. The current model Elite has the same name as the old-style Elite scooter shown in this video, but it is otherwise a completely different scooter. The old-style Elite had drum brakes, a carburated engine, no storage space under the seat, and an angular styling. The current model Elite has a disc front brake, a fuel injected engine, and an angular outer body.

  • I bought one with 2000 miles for only 80 dollars that being said I am missing some parts but the guy took the plastic off when he bought it so it looks brand new give or take the missing parts

  • lol, in my country those scooters go for 300-400 euro on the internet XD...

  • getting a '90 for 500$

  • I have a 87 and got it for about 250.

  • Thanks, that gives me something to think about.

  • A used Kymco is a much better deal as far as price performance goes, and they are very good quality.

Nontheless, while they can be a great deal for people looking to break them apart and work on them, Chinese scooters aren't even an option if what you're looking for is a dealer-supported vehicle to just ride. Mine would not have even started the way it came shipped to me, and there's nowhere near to get it serviced.

If you can do without highway travel, slightly overpriced or not, it is nice.

  • I guess I have the LE. Has the white plastic, white rims. Someday, I'll post a vid response of it.

  • really good review, thanks , from someone who sounds quite passionate about bikes
