Civil Air Patrol Jasper, GA WWII

On Dec. 1, 1941 -- less than a week before the attack on Pearl Harbor plunged the country into World War II, the Civil Air Patrol, was founded. In 1943, the organization came under control and direction of the Army Air Forces. http://www.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?fsID=163

This is a short clip of several members of the Jasper CAP, during World War II. They flew from the original Jasper, GA airport that was north of Jasper. The area is now part of an industrial park. Some of the people in the film are: Dr. C.J. and Mrs. Helen Roper, Mrs. Jane McWhorter, Patricia Turner, and Mrs. Martha Alice VanSant.

Were the women shown in this film members of the CAP?They don't have uniforms, at least the ones in the beginning, or were they family members of the officers of the squadron? Also did the squadron do any sub hunting?

The women were family members and friends. The group was located in the mountains of north Georgia, several hundred milies inland. So, I am sure they did not do any sub hunting from this location.
