Quite right, although it's actually the other way around. Cyrillic was created in the Bulgarian Empire and spread from there.

@dave86silv83 Hey Dave, yes you are very right that Bulgarian sounds like Russian. I am fluent in bulgarian and I can understand about 50% of what a russian is saying without even having to learn the russian language. There are many words that are shared between the two languages aswell as the fact that they practically share the same alphabet.
