  • @jdcnow Actually the graphic in the background at 1:00 is a chroma key. That's why that part of the set was blue (as seen in the opening wide shots). It looks to me that the image came from an electronic still store, which were just being adopted about this time.

  • As I look back at the history of TV news, it's quite fascinating to me what they did in lieu of the computer graphics used in today's modern age. That over-the-shoulder board at 1;00 behind Iola (and on Tracy's side, too)... There was actually somebody back there playing switcheroo with the boards as the newscast went on, and that's what they did for the OTS graphics back in the day. And the sliding magnet board Troy used for the forecast. Very interesting.

  • @irvguy40 why

I'm just a casual fan. I was just a little kid during those years that Gooding, Harris, and Martin all anchored in the early 70s. I'm just hoping that we can find some more rare news openings from Dallas' 8, 4, and 5 from the early to mid-70s. Or, perhaps, even before that......if it all survived.

  • Case139 -- who are you?? I worked with both of them in the 1970's in TV news.

  • I am looking for video from when channel eight did its celebrate texas campaign in 1986. The theme was part of the TM Spirit campaign used. Love to have this...

  • I was gonna say the exact same thing..it's maybe a YouTube problem.

  • The audio is a little out-of-sync.

  • Do you have any footage of janet bridgman? She was the weekend anchor and consumer reporter at WFAA in the 80's. She's my mother and I don't have any video record of her. If you have it, It would mean a ton to me.
