Ladakh is one of the few places, where it is said that you can sit with your face getting sun burnt and feet getting frostbite. The people here are tough and tenacious, and have adapted an ingeniously way to survive such extremes of climate.
Ladakhi architecture imbibes the Buddhist belief of harmony with one's surroundings. The houses rely very little on electricity, and make use of natural design elements.
Apricots, Walnuts and apples grow aplenty in Ladakh's fertile soils, and the local cuisine includes the ubiquitous Momo (steamed meat dumplings).
