Oslo Airport chose flexibility for future growth with Vanderlande BAXORTER
Oslo Airport at Gardermoen is Norway's main airport. The airport served 19 million passengers in 2007. Because of the expected growth in passenger volume, additional check-in space and baggage handling capacity was necessary in order to cope with these growing figures.
In the East Extension the checked-in baggage is sent to the basement to security screening machines. During the four levels of baggage screening, sorting is done by VERTISORTERS. All secure baggage is sent to the BAXORTER loop sorter of 80 metres length via two infeeds and sorted to 14 destination chutes.
Arriving baggage is led to a U-shaped tilted TRIPLANAR reclaim carousel.
