2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

In the supercar realm, conversations about who holds the throne usually start and finish with the legendary Prancing Horse marque from Italy -- Ferrari. After all, Ferrari has produced some pretty awesome machinery over decades of existence. Indeed, aside from independent supercar makers like McLaren, Saleen, Spyker and the like, most exotic machinery can be attributed to the Italians Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini So over the course of just three years, the 2011 SLS AMG went from concept to the pre-production cars we recently drove at the international launch of the car. So does this latest supercar offering from Mercedes render King Ferrari passé?

My father's friend just picked up a red one. Lucky me got a chance to drive it, gotta love rich doctors. All I can say is WOW! Not only is it a rocket ship, but it is soooo smooth, drive by wire so there is no physical link between steering wheel and road, so its all smooth. And the best part it, it will still drive like a normal car when you need it to be. Door is a bit of a pain to pull down for shorter guys though (like me). haha. On my wish list for sure.

Agreed, but to be fair, the unique and striking look of the SLS more than makes up for it in terms of road presence.
