Precious. My son is deaf. He had spinal meningitis at the age of 8 months and lost his hearing. We began sign language with him at the age of 10 months. He has NO hearing. He is 21; works, drives, and SKYDIVES. I really feared 20 years ago he would not be able to function this well in a hearing world. He "forces" people to deal with his deafness.

This is heartwarming ... it shows quite well how powerful that baby signing stuff really is. Amazing how smart they really are at that age.

She is SO beautiful...and clearly intelligent. You are extremely blessed.
Oh, to be able to communicate so well with my 12 month old!
I'm not sure I really get it. My daughter was saying all these words verbally at 12 months.

Rebecca,
You have quite the advanced daughter! The typical child has 20-400 words by age 2 and can put them together in 2 word sentences between 18-24 months. Your daughter could say 5 words together by 12 months old. Wow - you are so lucky! Good for you and her :).
