I have the same, does the red light should be on at all time till the batteries dies, the red light will be flicking?
I bought one ages ago and wasnt sure if its faulty cos I have new fresh Batteries, then the pack show the red light for 10 sec then flicking for 20 sec then off!
The recycle time will be quite a bit shorter when you turn of that annoing beep sound, as it lets you fire at once the light turns red. I was surprised by this discovery, as it renders the ready-beep-function totally useless!:0)
@gideonMorrison depends on what you mean by better. the 560 has a bigger flash head and faster recycle time so for me it is better. It is a fully manual flash so you have to shoot in full manual mode anytime you want to use this.
if you dont have a good understanding of lighting and rely on your camera' automatic settings then the 468 is much much better since it has TTL.
You just got to love the sound.

The flash is hooked up to a battery booster. That's why the recycle time is short.
