During an interview with Sean Hannity, Michael Moore laments the mortgage fraud that's been caused by banks and lenders, and suggesting Hannity is blaming victims of the mortgage crisis for not knowing any better, Moore says it's "like asking a woman how short was your shirt after you've been raped."

Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether or not the banks were legally out-of-bounds in relaxing the regulations on lending to subprime borrowers? I've heard both that they acted illegally and that the government allowed or even made them do it. Who's right? I've tried researching this myself but haven't been able to get to the heart of it. I know Obama launched a probe into it, but the results didn't answer my question.

Banks have nothing ($0) invested in your mortgage. When you signed your promissory note, the bank deposited it as a security upon which they could "lend" 9 times as much. Then they handed you your own money which you created with your signature. Then they charged you 3 times that much plus collateralized (risked) your home for the service of book keeping entries.

It's bad when the rich are getting richer and the poor are becoming poorer. The top 1% can be taxed a lot more and it would not put a dent in their pocket one bit. But they now control congress and are filling up their wallets. They know once we run out of oil the economy will fall and they will be safe. Revolution is in the near future.

Democrat Barney Frank was the House Finance and Banking Chairman at the time, the guy in charge of oversight of Fannie.
