I also ran from getting off the bus to see this show after school too ! Barnabas wasn't a pretty boy or classically handsome, but the show was inexplicable in it's ability to draw me in. Loved it .

Now I hear Johnny Depp will be prtraying Barnabas in the re-vamp (excuse the pun) of Dark Shadows. Hope he does it justice.

- I just saw a clip of the "new" Dark Shadows. Tim Burton turned it into a comedy/drama. I already don't like it. Johnny Depp looks like MJ - with the pasty white skin. He has a weird hairstyle and long nails. They ruined the whole thing. I'll stick to watching the original.

Dark Shadows started off as a basic Mystery gothic style story all most Agatha Cristie or Stephen King like..... but with out the Supernatural things. like Ghosts and Vampires....Raitings on the show started to go down..and so Dan Curtis figured if the show ended go out in style.. so they added the Ghosts, Vampire and other things and the show became a hit.

I am watching the entire seies from the 1st episode. I am currnetly in 1966. No Barnabas yet. The supernatural element was not there at the begining. Any idea why they changed the show so drastically? Were ratings low?
