A slide show celebrating the long & distinguished career of American actor Richard Thomas. Though justly famed for his portrayal of the much loved Walton eldest son, his range & versatility on stage and screen is impressive and in my view not sufficiently acknowledged. This sequence of images is offered as tribute to a great actor who nontheless will be for ever John-Boy!

  • This is a nice tribute, what are these scores from by the way. (They sound very Delius)

  • @MsFelixtheCat50 Thanks. I am so glad you enjoyed my tribute to Richard.

The music is all - American, firstly 'Pavane' by Morton Gould followed by the slow movement from Don Gillis's 'Symphony no Five & a Half'. All very John-Boyish I think!

  • @MsFelixtheCat50 ps. I forgot to mention the last peice which is 'Chanson' by Rudolf Friml.

  • i for the life of me cant remember the name of the movie he did so im asking it here. he played a nutcase that went on a shooting rampage in a office building because i think it was because of some woman he had feelings for.

anyone know the name of the movie he did that im thinking of?

  • @brokenwing36566754 It was called 'Stalking Laura' (also known as 'I Can Make You Love Me') and co-starred Brooke Shields as Laura. After 'All Quiet on the Western Front', it was probably Richard's finest performance on film.

  • There is no doubt that Richard T. had all the attributes of a successful film actor - the voice, the versatility, the commitment & especially the looks. So why did he not go on to achieve the immense promise that was so manifest in 'All Quiet on the Western Front? Any suggestions?

  • @Gymroids Thanks so much! You did a nice job, I liked that you put in pictures from childhood to his present age.

  • It is amazing that he looks great for his age.

  • cool video!!!:)

  • @Gymroids He did such a dynamic job as John Boy that he was forever typecast. Altho I did see him in Puck in Midsummer's Nite Dream and he was so wild and wonderful that I forgot all about The Walton connection. I think the Theatre is his salvation as an actor, but give him time and he may bump into a wonderful opportunity along the cinema lines. But see him on stage if you get the chance...he's worth your time.

  • WHAT ABOUT LIVING PROOF HE PLAYED HANK JR

  • Cool video!
