Richard James came up with the idea of controlling a 48 piece string section and a 24 strong choir by remote control, using midi controllers, lots of headphones and some remote visual cues, after being commissioned to write some pieces for the European culture congress in Poland.
There was only one opportunity for a rehearsal to see if the idea worked, it was in the morning, the day of the concert!
This is the result.

  • Wah, I'm an aphex twin fan and I'm an entitled twat. Wahhh I can't be bothered to research similar concepts like Xenakis or Stockhausen wahhh classical music is for homosexuals wahhh.

The man owes you absolutely NOTHING. I for one liked the concept and thought the sound was unique. How many other people do you know that midi control an orchestra and make it sound interesting?

Bunch of babies complaining on the internet. Go make your own music instead of whining about someone elses.

  • i find this easy to masturbate to

  • @yapira3d ???? and Y not ''selected''?

  • @NinetinNinetin Question : What do you get if you cross Richard D James with Katy Perry Answer: Ambient Works volume 3.

  • @yapira3d only retards put ''fake'' in every video in youtube like you mr butthurt

  • The intensity of the sound gives me goosebumps. Thrilling to hear orchestras play. Small pauses give it a frenetic feel, which always delights me in a way, especially when in the mood, but this is definitely not easy-listening. An interesting experiment nevertheless, and I'm glad I could witness this even if I weren't there for the live act. :)

  • It an idea. Further investigation needs to be made. But not by Aphex Twin. Preferably a musician.

  • Where's the Monolith?

  • this could easily become the soundtrack to the eeriest scenes of Stanley Kubrick's films. plus i wonder if anyone in the audience imagined being in Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind around 6:09

  • This is scary as shit.

  • who laughed at 6:00? thumbs up
