  • @XBoeingCapt No Prop or Turbo Prop has ever matched the speed of the Jet Engine (B737) with that said the seats were not necessarily more expensive, they were accurate to the standard of operation cost &b service it was delivered, even when I started flying in 1976 (my favorite still the L1011-500 & B747-SP) the airlines still managed to deliver but as Air Line Deregulation took hold and the game became cheaper not better we landed with the catastrophe of an industry we operate today!

  • what is the tail number on this one???

  • Yes, the beautiful connie; however, you are incorrect in saying it was as fast as a B737. That's not accurate. It flew around 375 mph. The Boeing cruises much faster. And, all the seats were expensive not cheapo like today.

  • The commentater on this video mentioned he flew " in the cheap seats " in the back. Anyone who flew in these airplanes like myself knows the back were the first class section on a commercial piston airplane. This is the old 049 series that I used to fly in up untill around 1957.

  • Wasn't quite as fast as a B737 but it did cruise at 325 KTAS at 25,000 FT during its hey day back in the 50's. The airlines slowed them down by 1958 to save not only fuel but also those 3350 turbo-compound engines. Still, it moved along pretty nicely and with a descent tail wind it could make LAX-LGA non-stop in 7 hours.

  • Thanks for that tidbit of information. Very interesting.

  • Its not as fast as a 747

connies only go about 350 mph

  • do you speak english?
