You equivocate badly. Hamas is listed as a terrorist organization by Democratic Nations around the world and even by Muslim nations in the Middle East. The US being convicted of a single act of terrorism during the 1980's before the ICJ, whose jurisdiction the US does not even recognize, is not at all the same.

Also note in the Nicaragua case the relationship between the nationality of the Judges and whether they voted for or against the conviction.

Democracies are rare. Dictatorships are far more plentiful in the UN. Among the Muslim nations for example, there is a 22 nation Muslim voting block that consistently targets the US and Israel.
