Computer-driven buckyball consisting of 90 addressable RGB LED (Blinkenlichten) nodes on a 3-wire bus. The LED visual effects are created by a python script (only had time to write a couple so far) pumping serial port data to an Arduino, which resends it to the ball as a self-clocking Blinkenlichten bitstream.
At full tilt the ball draws several amps at 5VDC.
The material used for the structural members and LED diffusing (hot glue sticks) really doesn't stand up under its own weight, so the ball is currently a bit misshapen.

This is great! It was kinda hard for me to get a sense of its size. How big is it? How long did it take to make?
