In the first nine months of 2011, over 1,700 patients received treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Sciences (PIPOS) in Peshawar. The Institute, which the ICRC has been supporting since 2004, treats people from the areas of north-west Pakistan affected by fighting. PIPOS enables people to regain mobility, restores their confidence and helps them resume an active role iheir communities.
