  • @FigaroBravo the songs they're singing are opera arias, not concert arias. They're singing opera arias in a concert if that's what you mean.

It's just sad to see these singers singing with a 'minus one' and handheld microphones. I thought this is "world-class music"? except for Eric Ferrer who clearly didn't used a handheld mic (and only relied on the microphone in front of the stage). He did just fine without the mic! he sounded great too. I applaud him for that.

  • I sang in the St. Matthew Passion with Evelyn Mandac 40 years ago at Lincoln Center's Philharmonic Hall (now, Avery Fisher Hall) when I was a choir boy...she did the soprano solos, and was amazing. To see her in this now, microphone or no microphone, is absloutely astounding, and a testament to the preservation of beauty, regardless of age. Brava, Evelyn Mandac!!

  • @ivantwill

    Mr. Ivantwill.

You are dead wrong to say that these "Asians" (that should be capitalized if you went to school) should not sing with mic. They were singing concert Arias and NOT a live Opera, for your information. Yes a live opera should never be microphoned, You must know how to distinguish a concert from a live Opera. Did you ever watched the Great Pavarotti in the 3 Tenors concert? They all need the mic because the theater was not equipped with an opera House Acoustic.

  • @ciociosan I didn't say you were stupid. I said your response is as vague as your grammar. I am so sorry for people who can't read.

  • @ciociosan and you are not very smart either. No microphone for opera singers. This is cheating I hope this is clear now. Velasco is finished and you should not be singing this aria

  • @hanskunst Your response is as vague as your grammar.

  • @ciociosan because they are singing with a microphone.in other videos is not a reason to say it is wrong to single Asia Pacific Islander singers. They should know better. Velasco voice is gone on this video.

  • @ivantwill While I do agree with your comment about opera is never sung with a microphone, I don't agree with singling out a group of people, in this case, Asia Pacific Islanders for singing with microphones, is simply wrong. There is plenty of videos here on youtube where they use microphones.

  • opera NEVER is sung with a microphone in the performers' hands or at all!! This performance is a kareoko at its WORST! Why do asian pacific islanders INSIST singing with microphones. Go to a bar and singing with a prompter. Evelyn Mandac, are you reading my comments?? I'm so surprsed you would associate your name with this shameful posting. Ivan Willard, San Francisco
