I'm not sure how anyone could call this boring unless you just don't understand it. Mac's writing is full of odd rhythms morphing in and out of each other with insane stickings. If you want to see the stock chuggada chuggada parradiddle shot bullshit, then you know which groups will be doing plenty of that. The only complaint I have about this is that I wish they would have reverted back to the late 90s/early 00's tenor tuning scheme with wooden mallets.

i completely agree. from the looks of the audition book, they went back to the playing style but i really miss the tuning. are they using an aluminum mallet?
