Tennessee HB0962 - Restaurant Carry - Jimmy Naifeh

Former speaker Jimmy Naifeh, a handgun permit holder himself, who has for many years abused the House Committee System, speaks against a proposed law which would make it legal for handgun permit holders to carry into restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages so long as they are not drinking. You can hear the disdain in his voice for the NRA ... and others. His statements about "all" law enforcement and "all district attorneys" are probably far from truthful assertions based upon what Senator Jackson said a few days later in the Tennessee Senate on the same bill.

I am Nicole Goeser (Widow of Benjamin Felix Goeser).

My husband was gunned down right in front of me at Jonny's Sports Bar here in the Nashville area. I DO NOT APPROVE of Jimmy Naifeh using mine & my husband's case to speak against the Restaurant Carry Bill. I SUPPORT THIS BILL! I am a permitted gun owner and because of Naifeh and his sorry legislation....my husband is dead.

The resturant assoc. wants blanket forbidding of guns in a place with alcohol so they won't have to individually forbid it and incur the wrath of the gun owning and carrying citizens. They feel that not so many of us will be angry with them if the state law forbids all places where alcohol is available rather than them having to take the individual initiative to do it themselves to take a public stand on this matter. As for Naifeh, he's a hypocrit and a big one to claim to be pro-gun.....RN

We in Tennessee Firearms Assoc had hoped for a better speaker who did not have an anti-gun voting record as is possessed by the incoming speaker, but we'll just for now have to play the hand we are dealt. We hope that at least in this term upcoming, Naifeh will not be whispering into the ear of the speaker on gun bills. We ALMOST got Naifeh out. Not giving up on it. RN
