i grilled my local MP ( Wynn David MP for Caerphilly) a few months ago, he came up with a gem, in a few years some benefits will be cut to give the carers a pay rise. In other words there's no new money in the pot for us, just the same bull-dust over and over again. They must think we are idiots.
Even if they paid us the minimum wage plus a bonus would be better than the insulting pittance they give us now. Its funny how they bailed the banks and their cronies out of the
muck,

I came back to this country to look after my 85 year old mother who has become housebound. I left a good job my friends and a nice home in Paris. I became a full time carer a year ago. I wonder how many of that gang of crooks in London could, or would live on £85 for a 24/7 week. Yes I am very angry at the moral blackmail which carers get. Slavery went out years ago, maybe someone should tell brown and his government WE save the NHS BILLIONS each year and get a pittance in return.

Thankyou for this video, we need people to know, and the government to take notice and do someting about it

Well summed up!
i am a young carer. for my father. i think the carers allowance is sort of shocking. because my may get it for caring fr my dad. but it isnt anything to run on. we just want him to be able to stop work or atleast to go part-time so he isnt so stressed and ill. but we cant because we dont get any help.and without dads income we would have nothing. i think the government should change it preferably soon. herd some changes but not enough is being done at all. thanks for posting.x

As far as I can see unfortunately this (and the next) government won't help Carers emoeilish. I'd like to say there's some glimmer of hope for Carers but after 16 years now of being a Carer nothing has changed. Is your dad getting all the benefits he is entitled to? Just wondering if it's worth shecking out? Contact me if you aren't sure OK?

We challenged MP's to live on Carers Allowance over Christmas and the New Year to have a little taste of what our lives were like taffy402. No contact with the outside world except by phone or computer, very little heating and of course very little money. Guess how many said they would try our lives? You got it, not ONE of them, though they all said what 'unsung heroes we were' That helped!

Many thanks for that Casdok. It's been a long 2 years since we started up, I know Carers aren't seen as 'trendy' and people think it isn't 'work' but we are doing our best to change that attitude and if we have to upset politicians and others by how we go about things then so be it.
We are constatnly trying for media support, not much about BUT we'll give it our best shot.
Thanks again for the comment
