The last hip replacement was done 16th Nov 2011, the 4th. I'm 69, i,m down to using one stick now. I would say to anyone contemplating the op, do not have any doubts at all, normaly the operation is nothing to worry about. To be free of pain is the most wonderful feeling if you have suffered with it before. there is no comparison in the fredom tou feel. Mike D. Spain.

    hello,

may I know where in which state and what dr. performed your surgery. I thing a successful surgery depends on the brand material and doctor as well. Doctor has to be very experienced about the surgery. I will need hip surgery on my both hips. I am just scared about if I would be able to find a good surgeon or not. !!!!

I totally agree with swilliams100. I had my operation 4 years ago at 56 and prior to surgery had kept fit by going to a gym 2/3 times a week concentrating on hip and thigh muscle groups. I believe this sped up my recovery and still go to the gym and exercise the muscles around my hip replacement to ensure the best chance of longevity.

The more exercise you can do, in water helps, before the op the faster your recovery is likely to be. My op was done in 2009 (at the age of 62) by Derek McMinn and I was back on my feet in 24 hrs and walking without crutches or stick within 6 weeks. Brilliant job - have no fears about the second one, which will undoubtedly follow in my case.

Yes, we are simply gonna cut through and your muscles, tendons and ligaments and chop off some of your bone. You wont feel a thing.... Hard to imagine anyone recovering from something like this!
