@mattlikesgraciebarra Technically yeah, but as soon as you let go of the arm you loose the control of his body.

Brilliant technique shown here.

thought that was joe rogan at first

couldnt you do a triangle from 1:07 ? like just bring the left leg over his shoulder and triangle your legs then pull down on his head... would that work if for some reason you couldnt get the armbar?

Live the video but could've done without the death metal in the background.

I plan on redoing most of my old videos that are of lower quality and talking/music in the background.

This is NOT perfect instruction. You must remember to "shrimp" yourself to get the correct angle, that is BJJ 101 stuff. I will not give this video a dislike, but I suggest that if you want to learn an armlock/armbar from the guard that you use Expervillage's video.

@theatlantisrise I disagree about shrimping yourself to the side. This movement that you mentioned is fundamentally incorrect in my opinion. Thanks

Great video, but when i was tuaght the armbar, my master told me to cross and grab the shoulder to bring him down not the back of the head.. i wonder if one of them is more effective..?

Grabbing across the shoulder I've seen also. I personally don't have anything against it as they're are many ways to do one technique. I personally however like getting head control because it is extremely effective in controlling your opponent's posture which I feel is something that should be done repeatedly if you are playing a closed guard game.

i think as ur pushing his head away he could take his arm out. might want to add to keep control of his wrist with other hand

Hello, thank you for you input it is much appreciated...If you keep your knees tight and heels down along with keeping pressure on his elbow with your hand that is on his arm then it will be very hard for them to just pull their arm right out.
By pushing the head with your free hand it helps you clear your leg over better and also creates a better angle.
